Michael J. Furtney will be joining us on Tuesday April 21 at 1:00 pm in the TSU. He will be giving a presentation to Professor Quezada’s class and to anyone else who would like to join. Michael Furtney is also known for the PR work he did for Nadya Suleman, also known as “Octomom”. The title of his presentation will be “PR through the eyes of Octomom’s Publicist” and his presentation will be about his time spent working with Nadya Suleman.
Michael Furtney joined the Killeen Furtney Group in 2003. His corporate public relations experience spans nearly four decades in a variety of industries including: senior public relations positions at Union Pacific Railroad, Southern Pacific Rail Corp., Sprint Corp., Bechtel Power Co., Chevron Corp., Getty Oil Co., Kaiser Cement & Gypsum and Natomas Co.
Furtney has led seminars on media relations for industry groups and college classes for more than 20 years. He presently serves on the faculty of the University of California at Los Angeles, at Pepperdine University in Malibu and at University of Southern California.
Anyone who would have taken on Suleman as a client given her circumstances, obvious mental deficiencies, and the economic climate wasn’t too media savvy in the first place. Furtney just thought he’d hop on the bandwagon, and he got a little more than he bargained for. I have no sympathy for him whatsoever, and I have even less for Kaiser Permanente (who supposedly contacted Kileen Furtney originally--they're another bunch of smirking idiots who thought their role in this fiasco would be a good thing).
ReplyDelete“I was kind of catapulted into this, oblivious to my choices,” Suleman says in one interview (I think she means, “…regardless or despite my choices.)” Bull crap, she purposely put herself in the spotlight with her appalling actions. Notice how uneducated she is, too; her use of the word oblivious in this manner reveals that she is a dunce who’s trying to seem literate (and she’s probably dumb enough to think she’s brilliant and also thinks she's succeeding in making us think she is, too). Out of the mouths of cretins; oblivious means unaware and Suleman sure as hell is oblivious, that’s for certain. She doesn’t have a clue. She’s a moron, and Furtney must be a dullard for getting involved with her.
Furtney says he stopped representing NS because of death threats, but I actually doubt he took them any more seriously than did his client, who was never so fearful that she stopped shopping and opening her repulsive mouth at every opportunity. Furtney got out because he finally realized that Suleman was a toxic waste dump. He's just one more opportunistic parasite who miscalculated--but hey, he did get enough notoriety out of this mess to be asked to make an speak at Comm week. Guess this jerk is a winner, too. Everyone decent has lost in this charade--idiocy and irresponsibility rule the day, and the American taxpayer keeps on footing the bill.
The entire situation is completely sickening and the players make me want to vomit. I’m so glad I don’t live in California.
